Dear G&M Hospital Foundation
We hope you have been enjoying our lovely early summer weather.
In our June newsletter, you will meet Anna Benedict from our Foundation in the story, "So What Do You Do?". You will also have an opportunity to tell us how we can improve by taking an online survey. This issue also gives you more in depth information on some of the seminars you may have attended in May as well as an opportunity to see the photos Julie Card from www.mycollingwood.ca took at our Annual Dinner on May 30th. Enjoy!
Please contact us at foundation@cgmh.on.ca if you want more information on an article, upcoming event or have a suggestion for us.

So What Do You Do?
Profiling our Foundation Office Team
Meet Anna Benedict!

So what do you do around here?
I am the Annual Giving and Community Education Coordinator.
What is your role and what does it involve?
For my Annual Giving role, I plan, create and produce broad based marketing materials. This includes direct mail pieces, online giving and tribute giving. Our employees are active donors as well and I manage our Employee Giving Club (payroll deduction program).
I also coordinate the annual Wasaga Beach, G&M Hospital Challenge where participants raise funds for the Hospital and participate in the Wasaga Beach Triathlon. Last year, thanks to numerous doctors, staff and community members, we raised over $80,000 which went towards the purchase of our new digital radiography unit.
For my role with community education, I work with our volunteer Community Education Committee. We have an education endowment fund which allows us to present free community-based seminars and programs as well as offer grants for non-profit organizations to hold their own events. These initiatives promote wellness, injury and disease prevention. Our goal is to keep people out of the Hospital by avoiding illness/injury and managing disease more effectively.
What is the most challenging part of your role?
We want to make it easy for people to support us. It is important to match donor interests with our needs. We are always seeking ways of letting our community know that without their support, we would not be able to offer the medical and education services we currently provide.
What else should our community and donors know about your role?
I work with wonderful volunteers on both of my committees who donate their time and talent to bring these education and annual giving programs to fruition.

Malcolm gave us all lots of food for thought and kindly shared his presentation with us.
