Susie Saunderson (Organizing Committee) and Dr. Jennifer Young enjoying the day
Christie/Cummings Ski Day Successful!
The 11th Annual Christie/Cummings Ski Day at Osler Bluff Ski Club was another roaring success, thanks to our generous supporters.
Participants enjoyed a great day on the slopes and in the ski chalet. There was lots of socializing, and fun including the famous "Feather Game". Door prizes and another wonderful silent auction rounded out the day.
Another round of applause goes to the volunteer organizing committee, led by Jennifer Christie. "The committee couldn't do it without the continued support of local businesses and individuals." Working with Jennifer was Susie Saunderson, Kathy Thompson, Jocelyn Biggins and Tricia Christie.
The event raised almost $30,000 which will go towards the purchase of surgical equipment. Dr. Jennifer Young spoke to the crowd about the importance of donor gifts in providing necessary surgical equipment for the G&M Hospital. Thanks to all of our sponsors, donors and Christie/Cummings Barristers & Solicitors.

So What Do You Do?
Profiling our Foundation Office Team

Meet Alison Sheffer! Alison is the Administrative Assistant and Information-Data Coordinator for the Foundation Office. She has been with Foundation Office for about three years and says her role involves processing all of the donations that come into the office, attending Board meetings and working closely with members of the Foundation Board, staff and volunteers from different committees.
"I have the best of all worlds," says Alison. "I get to work with all of the coordinators & volunteers in our office and their committees. So every day brings something new and exciting! I am still amazed each day by the generosity of the people in our communities. I receive heartfelt letters with donations almost daily saying how appreciative they are of our great hospital, doctors, nurses & volunteers. We are so fortunate!"
Alison continues, "I have had the privilege of living in this beautiful area all of my life. We have two beautiful daughters; one in second year university and one in grade 9. We love to ski, snowshoe and also enjoy biking/cycling on our beach in the summer. I am a certifed Personal Trainer and a Certified Schwinn Cycling Instructor. I feel a healthy, active life is very important."
Alison enjoys all of the Foundation events and has participated in the HSBC Triathlon (which benefits the G&M Hospital Foundation) for the last two years. She teams up as a runner with Annual Giving committee member Ken Vogel (swimmer) and Cardiologist Dr. Eric Goode (cyclist) for this fun event.
So, the next time you are visiting the Hospital, pop into the Foundation office, which is located right across from the Gift Shop in the lobby, and say hello to Alison!

Docs On Ice Tourney Here in April!
Popular Hockey Tournament Benefits G&M Hospital Foundation and Communities

On April 9th and 10th, the Georgian Triangle communities of Collingwood, Clearview, Meaford, Springwater, The Blue Mountains and Wasaga Beach have the privilege of hosting over 800 physicians and medical students as they compete in 10 divisions in the 28th Annual Docs On Ice Hockey Tournament. This event is a fabulous opportunity to showcase our beautiful area and let potential recruits get to know us better.
Thanks to dozens of generous sponsorships, the tournament will raise almost $100,000 for the G&M Hospital Foundation. Every year the Foundation provides over $1 million in funding to our Hospital ensuring that our medical practitioners have the facilities and equipment they need to care for our community. The organizers, led by Dr. Geoff Moran have been working hard for over a year to bring this special event to our area.
We know that the Collingwood G&M Hospital is a special place. We're known for our collegial and highly competent medical and nursing staff and our large cadre of volunteers who provide a welcoming, community atmosphere. One of the goals of this tournament is to
ensure these physicians think about our area as a relocation choice.
Watch for more information on how you can get involved as a community ambassador or to volunteer with this exciting tournament. For more information, we invite you to contact Linda Caron at 705.444.8644.

Cottage Dreams Cancer Recovery Initiative
Opportunity for Survivors to Getaway to Donated Private Cottage
As a result of her own mother's breast cancer diagnosis, life-long cottager Seana O'Neill decided that she would like to share her Haliburton, Ontario cottage with those who would not otherwise have the opportunity to get away.
She was inspired to invite cancer survivors to visit her cottage when she was not there and thought other cottager owners would do the same if given the opportunity.
The response to the idea was immediate, passionate and sparked the creation of Cottage Dreams, a one-of-a-kind registered charity that provides time away at a donated cottage to bring cancer survivors and their families together to reflect upon and celebrate recovery at the cottage. Read on....
